With the crystal clear water of late I knew that the fishing was going to be tough and this called for a finesse approach on the local bream population.
Sometimes when conditions are tough, with flightly fish, I like to slow down my sink rate to keep the lure in the strike zone for the maximum amount of time. To do this I rig an Atomic Prong on a Gamakatsu Cobra jighead. With this presentation, I can get a slower, horizontal sink from the lure and a more natural presentation that seems to attract more interest from my target.
I’ve had lots of success with this technique in both shallow water and in and around mangrove lined channels.
You could also try Atomic Seekerz Hidden Weight jigheads, also built on Ultra Sharp Gamakatsu hooks and available in 1/24, 1/11 and 1/16 oz.
